After moving from Dublin, Ireland, to Mojácar in 2020, our founder, Barry, noticed a gap in the local market for high-quality, speciality coffee. And so, Cafe El Barrio was born!
Barry takes coffee just as seriously as he does customer service, super-cool décor, delicious food, and decent tunes.
THE STORY
Your basic coffee bean just wasn't going to cut it for us. After trying various beans, Barry wasn't able to find anything that hit the spot the way he wanted, so he went back to where he had his favourite coffee in Dublin! Thankfully, the amazing folks at Creed Coffee Roasters agreed to ship their beans over to us in Mojácar. As a micro roastery based in Celbridge, Kildare, Ireland, Creed's focus is on the ethical sourcing of the finest speciality grade coffee beans they can find.
In Mojacár, we call our beans Liquid Hope. And yes, we have a decaf version that tastes just as good and is of just as high a quality.

THE FOOD
Barry has worked most of his life in restaurants and bars, always preferring the excitement of the kitchen. He makes all of our food from scratch in-house, and is constantly experimenting with new flavours and combinations. Expect to try a wide range of homemade quiches, sausage rolls and pies, as well as simple but splendid staples like tostadas and toasted sandwiches. Along with plenty to satisfy your sweet cravings, including the now legendary sticky-toffee muffin!
